John Price Morgan
Ystradgynlais Fallen of World War Two
John Price Morgan served in the Royal Air Force and was killed in June 1940 when the Anson aicraft he was aboard crashed at sea during a reconnaissance mision over French coastal ports. He is remembered on the Runnymede Memorial, Surrey.
He was born in Abercrave, the son of Richard and Esther Morgan, and attended Bryn Seion Chapel, Abercrave, where he is remembered upon a plaque.

The Memorial at Bryn Seion Chapel, Abercrave is a slate plaque, commemorating three members of the congregation who had fallen in the Second World War.
The Runnymede Memorial commemorates by name over 20,000 men and women of the air forces, who were lost in the Second World War during operations from bases in the United Kingdom and North and Western Europe, and who have no known graves. (Source: CWGC)

From the South Wales Voice newspaper, Friday August 1st 1954 reported on the death of John Price Morgan's mother:-
DEATH: MRS ESTHER MORGAN
We regret to report the death on Sunday of Mrs Esther Morgan, wife of Mr Richard Morgan Abercrave, after a long and trying illness, patiently borne.
Mrs Morgan was a native of the locality. She was a member of Bethlehem Congregational Chapel and until her illness was a faithful worshipper.
Mr and Mrs Morgan suffered a tragic bereavement in World War II when their son, Mr John Price Morgan, who was in the RAF, was killed during an operational flight.
