Ystradgynlais Memorials
Memorial Organ Restoration Fund
The Maesydderwen Memorial Pipe Organ was presented to the school in 1952 by the Hen Fes Memorial Fund. It remembers the dead old boys of the school from both world wars, and for a long time played a large part in subsequent school life.
By 2012 it was in need of restoration, and with the existing school being demolished and rebuilt, a concert was held on Saturday May 26th 2012 to raise funds for the restoration of the organ, and its rehousing afterwards in the new construction in Maesydderwen School.
Unfortunately it was discovered that there was blue asbestos in the pipes of the organ, and thus it was unable to be solved. As of February 2013, the plan is to create a small memorial garden with a small monument to act as a focus for the school's Remembrance Daay services, as a reminder of all those lost in both world wars and all conflicts since .
