PENWYLLT - NEWS OF MISSING SOLDIER
After being posted as missing since the fall of Singapore, the glad news was received on Thursday of last week that Gunner William John Doyle, R. A. son of Mrs. E. Doyle and the late Police Sergeant James Doyle, Powell Street, Penwyllt, was safe but a prisoner of war in Japanese hands. Apart from the official information that he was missing, no further news had been received until last week, when his relatives were overjoyed to receive a post card from him, stating that he was a prisoner of war and that he was in excellent spirits. His mother wishes to express her sincere thanks to all friends at Pontardawe, also local inhabitants for their kind expressions of sympathy.
