Cynlais Primary School, Ystradgynlais

Cynlais Primary School was built in 1911, and extensively remodelled in the 1980s when some of the stonework from the old Penrhos School, then being demolished (1984), was used to build several extensions onto the original Cynlais School.

Cynlais School has some very interesting murals and wall paintings as well as some lovely pictures onto glass. We have brought them together in one section, to show what a colourful place it was.

The interior of Cynlais School has a lot of corridors, many still with displays up on their walls, and also there is the walled-over open court in the centre of the school.

The exterior of Cynlais School includes the playground, outbuildings, grassed play area with a pirate (?) ship, and we also look at the stonework of the school building.

We take a look around Cynlais school hall replete with the ubiquitous wall-apparatus for P.E. lessons, and the serving area for school dinners.

PLEASE NOTE - We did not take photographs of any displays which showed the children of the school.

We also photographed the Quick Cricket cup, which Cynlais School won, and retained.
